A Bit of Nothing About a Mouse

This is more of a random rambling than anything of value, so feel free to skip it.

2 years ago I bought a new mouse, I’ve had pretty much every iteration of the Logitech MX series, and have been very satisfied with them all. So, this time I of course bought the Logitech MX Master 3.  I’m now 2 years out with this mouse, and I figure it’s probably time to give it a review.

The good:

  • Comfortable
  • Responsive
  • Long battery life
  • Easy charging
  • Multiple connection “profiles” (can connect to 3 devices and switch with a button press
  • Accurate
  • Works on nearly every surface I’ve used it on (finicky on glass)

Now for the cons:

  • Scroll wheel gets gummed up with crap easily, and is very difficult to clean out
    • The actual wheel isn’t easily removable, which means you’re left picking at the shaft with a pair of tiny tweezers hoping you can get all the stuff off it.
  • Pain in the ass to take apart
  • After 2 years, the soft material that covers the top of the mouse is degrading and turning gummy
  • Gets damn filthy
  • Finicky on glass or other shiny surfaces
  • Thumb button is way to easy to hit

Overall for a mouse of this cost, I’d say I’m not as satisfied as I have been with the previous generations, the 2 MX Revolutions I have are well over 10 years old, and have been taken apart and put back together with no issues multiple times, and cleaned many times as well.  For a device I use for 10+hrs a day, I need something that’s high quality, and I’d say the MX Master 3 isn’t as good as it’s previous iterations.
